The second LP from California native. Paak was perhaps the finest hip-hop confessional since good kid m.A.A.d city. But while the more notable moments of Kendric's opus detailed the pain of adolescence, Malibu's hilights showed us a man coming to terms with multiple trauma's - an absent father, a gambling mother, spell of homelessness.
Heavy indeed,yet standout tracks like The Season/Carry Me and Am I Wrong flowed with all the breezy, irresistible soul you'd expect from any true West Coast star.

おそらく、good kid m.A.A.d city 以降一番のヒップホップ信仰告白であろう、カリフォルニア出身のPaak の2nd アルバム。
ケンドリックの作品では青春の痛みが細部にまで表現されているのに対して、このアルバムの注目すべき点は、複数のトラウマ、不在の父親、ギャンブル依存の母親、呪文のようなホームレス達のささやきなど、問題に言及する男を示した。
The Season / Carry MeやAm I Wrongのような爽やかに流れるにもかかわらず、実際には重く、真のウェストコーストのスターから魅力的なソウルを期待してしまうだろう。
